`Old Partner' Hits Million Mark

"Old Partner" hit the 1 million mark for ticket sales on Feb. 20 and grossed 1.89 this past weekend. It's a matter of a few days for the box office no. 1 film to break 2 million.

There was so much hype when it became the first indie flick to draw 100,000 viewers, and the no-beef-eating director was complaining about the joys and pains of his fame in our interview last month.

Organizers of the Sundance Film Festival introduced the movie as "a charming, heartbreaking, existential buddy tale that conveys the almost mystical inextricability of humans and nature."

It's about an old man, his wife and his beloved old cow. I saw it again last night with my parents (the preview DVD for press - love my job). It's the best.
